Hello Craft Friends!
Dana here! April has arrived! I'm so ready to start decorating my home for Spring! Today we'll be creating a fun and fabulous Home Decor project!
I'll be using Clear Scraps Standing Traditional Door DIY. Click here It comes with everything you need including a sturdy wood stand, so you can display anywhere in your home.
Remove all your wood pieces from your package. You will have an extra hook to add an embellishment if you desire. I'm not using this piece for my project. But I'll save it for another project possibly in the future.
Lay out all your pieces on your craft table. This is what's included.
To begin, take your bottom wood door and using some acrylic paint (I chose Folkart Rose Layette and Patina. I layed my top wood door piece over top of my bottom piece. Don't glue yet. I carefully applied the Folkart Patina paint in-between the outside square areas. Then I applied the Rose Layette acrylic paint onto my top door piece. I took the wood door bracket and doorknob and added acrylic paint to each piece. See photo:
Set this aside to dry. Next take all your various size square pieces. You can paint, stamp or cover with patterned paper. I chose to cover mine with coordinating papers from Maggie Holmes "Garden Party" collection. I trimmed away any excess paper using my x-acto knife. If needed, you can use a Distress tool to smooth any rough edges away. I chose to add Distress Ink Gathered Twigs onto the edges of my wood pieces. I recommend using Beacon glue to adhere my papers to my wood pieces.
Using my Beacon glue I adhered my top wood door to my bottom base door. Now you can glue all your small wood pieces in each section of your door.
Take your stand pieces and glue onto the back of your door. Let dry throughly before proceeding. Here's a closeup look:
Now you can decorate your wood door as you like. I used a variety of chipboard stickers and adhesive stickers. On the bottom section on my door, I glued a small light pink pompom on my bunny's tail.
Here's how my finished door looks:
Here's some closeups!
Now it's finished and ready to display!
Thanks for visiting the Clear Scraps blog! I hope you be inspired to try making your own unique Home Decor piece to enjoy for years to come!
