Hello and happy spring. Flowers are blooming, the days are getting warmer (here in south Texas) and summer is right around the corner. I wanted to add to my home decor for spring so I used a wood block with decorative base and top to make a home decor piece with the wood n shape "home" and house.
First, I painted the block of wood, base and top with white chalk paint. Next I brushed some brown chalk paint to give it a farmhouse look. I then painted the word "home" with the brown chalk paint.
I wanted to "tone" down the dark brown "home" piece, so I used crackle paste and a floral stencil. I love the vintage/worn look of the crackle paste once it dries.
For the house, I used some cheery spring paper to trace, cut and adhere to the house. After the glue dried, I used an exacto knife to trim the edges. I then inked the edges using a dark brown ink from Stazon.
I glued the house to the right of the wood base and glued the word to the top of the house. I then embellished with flowers and some leaves. I love how this quick and easy project turned out and will be a great addition to my spring decor. Thank you for stopping by and checking out this project. Happy spring and happy crafting!!
