Happiness is Homemade Shiplap and Baking Dividers Home Decor

Hello Craft Friends!

My name is Dana and I'm back on the Clear Scraps blog to share a fun Home Decor project! For the base of my project I'm using Clear Scraps Cutting Board Shiplap Shape Large Click here and Clear Scraps new Baking Chip Dividers Click here

The paper collection nd embellishments I'll be using is Graphic45 Home Sweet Home collection.

I know some of you crafters may not create Chipboard Divider Cards so I thought I'd use them instead as embellishments on our Shiplap Cutting board! Hope it will inspire you and you'll give this a try or come up with your own design.

To begin our project, I took some Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint and applied on the handle and top portion of your Shiplap Cutting Board shape. Let dry.

While your Shiplap Board is drying, chose some coordinating papers to cover the next 3 sections on your board. I recommend using Beacon glue to adhere your papers and chipboard embellishments. This glue is sturdy, strong and permanent. I cut my papers to the following sizes:

1st section: 9 & 1/2 x 4", middle section: 9 & 1/4 x 4 " and bottom section: 9 & 3/4 x 3". Using my xaco knife I trimmed away any excess paper and distressed any rough edges using a Distress tool or sanding stick. I inked along the edges of all my papers using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. Here's acouple photos:

Set your board aside for now. Take out all 3 Baking Chip Dividers from your package. Starting with the apron chip Divider card, I applied some Prima Chalk Ink Pastel Brown over the top portion of my apron. Let dry. Then taking a red/cream checked paper, I cut and adhered my paper to my apron. I applied a border sticker over the top part on my apron. See photo:

Then taking a rooster border paper, I cut it to measure 2 & 1/4 inches and adhered as a pocket towards the bottom of my apron. Then I tucked two sticker embellishment pieces inside the pocket on my apron. I took a small piece of jute cord and glued to the backside of my apron. I adhered a Chipboard sentiment at the top. Then using foam tape I adhered the chipboard apron card to the top portion on my Shiplap Cutting board shape. 1000013023

Cutting Board Divider Card: I applied some Prima Chalk Ink Knotted Wood on the handle. I covered the bottom of my Cutting Board Divider card with wood paper from my crafty stash. I trimmed and inked along the edges as we did previously. I adhered a chipboard Farm Fresh sentiment at the top. I fussycut out some tiny vegetables from one of the scrap papers. I adhered my cabbage and tomato onto my Cutting board card using foam dots. The other vegetables I glued in place. I added a knife sticker to finish it. Here's a closeup:

Mixer Chipboard Divider Card: I traced the mixer and stand on some red paper. Then using a blue scrap paper in my stash, I covered the bowl. Trimmed and distressed as we did previously with our other two chip cards. On the handle of the bowl I applied some Gliding Wax in Silver. I added a sentiment sticker onto the mixing bowl. I glued this to the bottom edge on my Shiplap Cutting board shape. Here's how mine looks:

From this paper collection, I adhered a chipboard piece on the left side of my apron chipboard Divider card. I added a  red enamel dot over the hole at the top of my chipboard piece. I added  a sticker sentiment on the right side.

To finish, I cut a piece of jute cord through the hole at the top of my Shiplap Cutting board large shape and tied into a knot. Now it's ready to hang!

Here's my finished project!
