Clear Scraps Project Post

Hello Craft Friends!

Dana here! Can you believe it's May already? Hope you are enjoying the Spring weather. 

Today I'll be creating a Home Decor project to display in a baby's room or give as a gift to any expectant mother. 

The Clear Scraps products we'll be using are Plaque Medium DIY Pallet Click here and one of the cute new Clear Scraps Shaker Tags Rattle Click here

The papers and embellishments I'll be using are an older paper collection from Prima Marketing "Heaven Scent" I still adore this collection. But you can use any papers you have in your crafty stash. 

To begin my project, I chose 2 coordinating papers and cut them to measure:

2 end pallets:  3 & 1/4 x 6 & 1/2 inches

Center pallet: 9 & 1/2 x 6 &1/2 inches.

I cut a leftover border strip into two pieces and will piece them together at both ends and adhere along the top edge.

I applied Distress Ink Gathered Twigs along the edges of each paper. Then adhered them to my wood pallet using Beacon glue. 

Now set aside your wood pallet for now and remove your shaker pieces from your package. Taking my top shaker chipboard piece,  I  applied some Folkart Baby Pink Acrylic paint to the top and sides of your shaker piece. Set aside to dry.  Take the tag chipboard base and trace onto a scrap pieces of paper, lining up the image you want to show through your shaker opening. Then glue your paper in place. Trim away any excess paper using an x-acto knife. Distress any rough edges. Now  adhere your bottom chipboard shaker piece onto your tag. See photo:

Continue to glue your next chipboard shaker layer in place. Now fill both the top rattle opening and bottom heart with shaker filler. I used Clear Scraps Sprinkles Baby Confetti Click here but you can you use any other shaker filler such as beads, glitter or sequins. Just make sure it doesn't interfere with adding your acrylic shaker piece on top. 

Remember when using the Clear Scraps Acrylic you must peel off both sides of your acrylic shaker piece before adhering. Continue to add the other shaker pieces in place and set aside to dry throughly before shaking! 

I decorated the top of my shaker with a fussycut sentiment from one of the Journaling cards,  puffy Baby sticker, Prima flower and crystals! 

After your shaker has dried, I applied some foam tape to the backside and adhered onto the right side of my wood pallet. I glued a Prima flower over the hole at the top of my tag and a tiny flower on the bottom. Here's a closeup look:

Next I fussycut out some images from leftover scrap papers (bird, hot air balloon, animals and banner, lamb, bunny/rattle. 

I applied some foam dots onto the back of my fussycut images and adhered onto the matching images on my center pallet. I applied a puffy sticker heart on the top of my hot air balloon.

I fussycut a cow jumping over the moon image and with foam dots adhered at the top of my pallet.  The foam dots add dimension to your project. I adhered several Prima marketing crystals in scattered areas on my pallet. Here's a photo:

On the left side of my smaller pallet, I adhered a small journal card with foam dots, glued the tiny blue bird at the top. On the bottom edge I glued a few tiny Prima flowers and a puffy sticker sentiment. Here's a closeup:

Next taking some light blue pom pom trim, I glued this all along the outside edges of my wood pallet. See photo:

To finish my project, I took some pastel colored ribbon, and knotted both ends. Then with hot glue, i adhered the ribbon to the back of my pallet. I also applied some Stickles Stardust glitter to some of my images and also Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen.  Now its all ready to display! Here's my finished project:
