“Wecome Summer” Jumbo Tag Home Decor

Hello Craft Friends!

Hope you are enjoying the beginning of the Summer season. I just love Summer! It means warmer temperatures, icy treats and basking in the sun! What's your favorite thing about Summer?

The theme for my project today is all about Summer! Will be creating a Home Decor project using Clear Scraps Jumbo Wood Tag, Click here Clear Scraps Wood Summer Collection Shapes-3pack Click here and Word and Shape "Welcome" words from the welcome/jar pack Click here

Remove your Jumbo Wood Tag from the package. Taking some Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint, i applied my 1st coat over my Wood Tag. Let dry throughly before proceeding to the next step. While your wood Tag is drying, I took my popsicle Wood shape and painted the top portion with orange acrylic paint. Let dry. (Leave the bottom popsicle stick as is for now.

Now take some petroleum jelly and apply in scattered areas on your Jumbo Tag, where you want a heavy distressed look. Let dry throughly before pproceeding. After the petroleum jelly has dried, apply another coat of the Folkart Vintage White acrylic paint. Let dry. Now take a Folkart Home Decor scrapper, and scrape over the areas where you applied the petroleum jelly. To get an even more distressed look, you can go over the same areas with your Folkart Sanding block.

Here's a closeup look at how my distressed area looks:

Set aside your woid tag for now. The paper collection I'll be using for a decorating my project is Simple Stories "Summer Farmhouse " collection. But you can use any papers you have in your stash!

I applied some orange acrylic paint to the top portion of my popsicle. Let dry. Now take your Wood shape flower and cover with patterned paper. I trimmed away any excess paper using my x-acto knife. Then distressed any rough edges using my Clear Scraps sanding tool. Click here See photo:

Take your Wood Watermelon shape and apply light green acrylic paint along the bottom edge and sides up to where the melon area begins.  Along the top edge i applied some red acrylic paint. Let dry.  Then I covered the rest of my Watermelon Wood shape with watermelon paper. Trim and Distress edges as we did with our wood flower shape. Here's a photo:

Now I covered my popsicle stick with some Wood paper, trimming away any excess paper. I applied some Sticker letters to spell "Just Chillin" to the top area on my popsicle. I fussycut the word "Sweet" and adhered it on my Watermelon slice using foam dots to add dimension. I applied some foam tape to the back of my wood popsicle before adhering to my tag. I glued the watermelon Wood shape towards the bottom. Then I applied a sticker border strip along the bottom edge of my wood Tag. And applied some enamel dots onto every other Scallop shape on my sticker border. I fussycut the small watermelon image from one of the small Journaling cards and adhered on the right edge using foam dots. See photo:

Next I took the Welcome wood words, applied some Versamark Clear ink and Martha Stewart Daffodil embossing powder. Shake off any excess embossing powder and heat with your embossing gun. Here's a photo:

I glued my Welcome words onto the center of my wood flower shape see photo:

and adhered at the top. I Added a tiny bee sticker above the letter "m" on Welcome.  Then I  applied some chipboard sticker flowers and a bee in scattered areas at the top portion of my Wood Tag. Here's a closeup look:

To finish our project I took some jute cord and thread it through the hole on my tag and tied a knot at the end. Now it's ready to hang! Here's my finished project:
