Hello, fellow crafters! Jennifer here, and today I’m excited to share this adorable 6×6 spring shadow box decor piece. There’s something magical about how these shadow boxes beautifully capture a special moment, theme, or memory—and they make such thoughtful gifts too! Whether you’re looking to add a personal touch to your holiday decor or simply brighten up your space, these little boxes are the perfect way to do it.
To start, I coated the sides and center pieces with a fresh layer of white chalk paint. While they dried, I got to work cutting ten 5.75x.75 strips of charming blue plaid paper. I then distressed the edges with a bit of brown ink for that perfect rustic touch. Once everything was prepped, I carefully glued each strip to the center of the wooden pieces, making sure to line them up perfectly. After that, I trimmed the tips and used an X-acto knife to delicately cut the middle section for a clean, sharp finish.
I set the painted pieces set aside and I shifted my focus to designing the four little boxes. I cut my papers into squares, experimenting with different patterns and textures until I found the perfect combinations. After that, I added a few embellishments for that extra touch of charm, and once I was happy with the look, I glued everything down securely, creating a cohesive and lovely design for each box.
Next, I reached for my trusty B-7000 glue to securely adhere the sides together, carefully aligning each piece. I made sure to apply the glue generously to the edges, ensuring a strong bond. After that, I glued the middle pieces in place, letting everything set and come together.
To bring the design to life, I gathered some delicate silk flowers and butterfly die cuts, layering them beautifully on the left side of the shadow box for that whimsical touch. Then, I turned my attention to the wood base, giving it a fresh coat of white chalk paint for a clean, crisp backdrop. To finish it off, I added more flowers and butterflies, creating a charming, layered effect that ties everything together.
Happy spring and happy crafting. ~ Jennifer
