Food For Thought Junk Journal

Hey there!! I am so glad you have joined me today for my newest Clear Scraps Project!
This is a BRAND NEW item that Clear Scraps now offers and you will LOVE it!

Junk Journaling has become all the rage and it is "trending" on all the hottest social media spots. When I first got the kit in the mail, I admit, I was a little intimidated.  I have never done a junk journal, and let's be honest…I am a scrapbooker at heart! I didn't think I would want to do more than one or two of these journals, but I was wrong. SO VERY WRONG.  I got addicted immediately and I am loving designing these junk journal covers!

In the photo above, You can see that all I have done is use scrapbooking paper to cover the outside.  I used a 5×9 Mixer Stencil and then added some mixed media for a bit of additional "eye candy". The 5×9 Plaids Stencil was PERFECT to match with the plaid paper that would be on the back cover!  Once the mixed media had dried, I finished the cover by adding the Title of my Journal and my Mini Lemon Shaker from earlier this month…remember that?  Scroll back to June 10th if you would like to see that post.

The photo above is a photo of my VERY FIRST junk  Journal Cover EVER.  I had so much fun creating this! After Decorating the cover, it was time to create and add my signatures.  I had no clue what that even meant!!
I did watch several you tube videos and browse Pinterest for about a week gathering knowledge AND Courage!!!
Finally, I was ready to get started.
I gathered an assortment of papers and trimmed them all down to size, making sure that they would fit into the cover that I had just finished. Below you can see my first signature has been sewn into my cover.  I had a few pieces of vellum, scrapbook paper, digital paper templates, etc, and each of my signatures has 10 pages.

After the decoration process was complete, I used the template to make the holes for my spine that I would then use for sewing in the signatures. The first couple of holes I punched were difficult…mostly because I did not want to poke holes in my gorgeous cover! However…I sucked it up and got busy.

Finally, I had added all three signatures, and I LOVED my final product!!!!
I will definitely be doing more of these and share more tips and ints once I have some.
As of right now, I am just so glad that my first one turned out as well as it did!
