If you’re looking for a fun way to turn your photos into a unique piece of home decor, you’re going to love this project featuring the Clear Scraps Star Shiplap Shape!
These shiplap shapes are one of my favorite bases to work with—they’re fun, functional, and the possibilities are truly endless. Whether you’re making a seasonal sign, a gift, or a personalized display like this one, they offer a sturdy canvas that’s just waiting to be customized.
For this piece, I started by painting the background of the Shiplap Star with white acrylic paint, applying it with a baby wipe for a softer finish. Once it dried, I used a blending brush to add a touch of color around the outer edges of the pallet frame, giving it a gentle, dimensional glow.
Next up: embellishments! I grabbed the Clear Scraps Music Notes Chipboard Embellishments and colored them in using my trusty black acrylic paint marker. It’s my go-to for chipboard elements—it dries fast and gives such a bold, clean finish.
I mounted my photos using two layers of cardstock to give them a bit of height and presence, then arranged them right in the center of the star shape. This gave the piece a nice focal point and kept everything balanced.
To finish it all off, I added two music notes to the left side for movement, then included a little flare and some stickers for a finishing touch.
