For this project, I’m sharing a single page layout created using Simple Stories Page Pieces, a page template, and Clear Scraps chipboard elements. This layout documents my grandson celebrating his 8th birthday, and it came together quickly while still packing in lots of texture and detail — which I love!

To get started, I used the sample layout shown on the Page Pieces packaging along with a page template to build my base layers. I chose a textured cardstock for the background, then added the layered page pieces and photos.
To help the photos stand out a bit more and add subtle contrast, I printed them with a white border before adhering everything into place. It’s a simple trick, but it really helps draw the eye to the photos.
Once all the base layers were adhered, I added more detail with Clear Scraps chipboard embellishments. I covered the balloons from the Clear Scraps Script Birthday and Balloons set using a coordinating color pulled from the printed title piece, then added them to the bottom left corner of the page.
Since the Page Pieces already included a “Birthday” title, I set the birthday chipboard aside for a future project. Instead, I added the Clear Scraps “Wishes” script title, coloring it with my black acrylic marker, to extend the title and add extra dimension. The contrast between the printed ephemera and the chipboard element adds texture and visual interest with very little extra effort.
This layout is a great example of how combining pre-designed elements, templates, and chipboard can make memory keeping both quick and impactful.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this layout inspires you to mix page pieces, templates, and chipboard elements to create meaningful pages in less time. Be sure to check out Clear Scraps for versatile chipboard pieces that add easy dimension to any project — and don’t forget to share what you create!
