Good morning from beautiful Tennessee! Pinky here with a fun new project and some handy acrylic tips!
I hear all the time…"I can't use acrylic I don't know how" or "Acrylic scares me" well it's not as hard as you think! Here are my easy peasy tips for working with acrylic and paper. This is just for the basic paper and glue with embellishments project, to get you started!
Supplies used for this project: Clear Scraps Mini Tab Album, Glue Arts 3D Combo Pac, Zip Dry, Imaginisce Berrylicious
#1 Take it one page at a time and if possible use double sided patterned paper.
#2 When working on a page or piece, cut paper for one side 1/2" to 1" larger than the other side. Like I did on the front page, I cut the back paper taller then the front, that way I can easily hide the adhesive and it pops out and adds color to the cover page!
#3 If you have not used alot of acrylic, go ahead and cover most of it the first time and leave the top and bottom open. See how I applied the paper and left the tips open?
#4 When you use a sticker or chipboard you know the back is usually white, what I do is set the sticker on a piece of paper, stick it down, then cut it out, that way when the other side shows the sticker, it shows patterned paper instead! 🙂 On the last picture you can see I laid the the chipboard onto patterned paper and it is popping out the back side of the mini album.
#5 Use a GREAT adhesive suck as Beacon Zip Dry or Glue Arts 3D Combo Pac. A strong glue that does not burn the acrylic is necessary.
#6 Only glue where you know product will cover on the other side. Placing items first and looking at the spots you need to glue helps alot.
#7 Unless it's a layout be sure to cover both sides!
I hope you found my helpful hints useful today and I hope you try acrylic, Clear Scraps is the BEST and you are missing out if you don't try it!
