A Sweet Spring Mini

Hi Everyone! Jennifer Priest here and I'm so excited to be posting my first post on the Clear Scraps Blog!!
I made a sweet mini album from the Large Pennant Banners pack by Clear Scraps featuring Imaginisce's new Berrylicious Collection and i-rock tool. This collection was so fun to work with! I also loved how easy the Clear Scraps acrylic is to work with.
I used 4 of the pennants from the Large Pennant Banners pack, saving the other 3 pennants in the pack for another project. After peeling the protective film from each side of each pennant, I swiped the edges of the pennants with Clear Embossing ink by Clearsnap. I then sprinkled white embossing powder on the inked edges.
I used a heat gun to heat set the embossing powder and in the process, the acrylic softened and was pliable while warm. I gently "ruffled" the edges of the acylic to make for "wavy" pennants. The embossing powder itself gives the acrylic pennants a bit of texture but the ruffles create even more visual interest and texture.

After the pennants had cooled, I cut several pieces of chipboard to 5" x 6" and covered them with paper. I added a narrow strip of coordinating paper to the acrylic pennants, punching a scalloped border on one edge of the paper. I then punched holes in the chipboard pages and threaded a ribbon through to bind the book. The trick to binding a book with ribbon is to leave a little slack in the ribbon to allow for the pages to turn and lay flat side-by-side.
I decorated the pages with coordinating Berrylicious Collection stickers and diecuts.  I used a heavy duty stapler to attach some of the elements to the chipboard and acrylic pages alike. Staples are so fun!
I used the i-rock tool by Imaginisce to add bling to the cover of the book and to some of the stickers in the Berrylicious Collection. The i-rock works really quickly – I love that it is battery powered and only heats up when you press the button and hold it down. Great if you have little kids!
After all of the pages were decorated, I sprayed the entire album with Smooch Spritz ink. This ink dries on the acrylic in about 10 minutes and is a great way to "antique" pages and help bring all the colors and elements together.
This cute little book was then ready for photos! Wallet photos work great for this kind of book because they fit well in the space. I used photos from a recent trip to the California Poppy Reserve – the colors are perfect for this fresh spring paper. And the pennants act as windows to each following chipboard page.

I hope this inspires you to try using heat to experiment with texture on your acrylic projects. Happy Creating!
