Ever since I gave birth to my son, my scrapping style has been sent into a tizzy. See, I have two older daughters that my entire crafting style has been centered around for years. Flowers, flourish-y, feminine, whimsical, beauty with a bit of grunge. Yep, that is what has been "ME" for a long time. But, then Jax showed his curly and adorably boy face, and I am still trying to work out what that means for me and my style because I love adding layers and embellishments that I make myself… but I don't want his pages to look just like his sisters'.
And then I figured it out. Acrylic. Acrylic. Acrylic. With Clear Scraps I can totally make my own embellishments and customize them to be totally boy, and still build the layers that I like as well as keeping it grungy and boy.
I LOVE IT! Here I used a clear scraps extruded acrylic sheet to stamp on various sizes of gears. I then adhered them to scraps of torn patterned paper using zip dry, and popped some up on top of the others for added dimension.
I also used the inside rectangle from the Clear Scraps Decorative Frames, cut it in half and stamped with gears also, creating tabs on either side of my series of photos.
Using my black Viva Perl Pen, I then added dots and fake brads around the gears and photo edges. I finished the layout off using Shimmerz Paints, making sure that the paint dripped behind the acrylic edges for added dimension and texture. I think I am in love. And not just with the boy in the photo, but with everything I am going to be able to create with Clear Scraps acrylics. Having the ability to customize every piece to my the individual projects and pages I am working on, is a dream come true!
xx Heidi
