We are all picture people, aren't we? I adore them. I hoard them. I snap them. Even the somewhat blurry ones fascinate me because they are still freezing that moment in time, and what an amazing thing – no matter what – to be able to capture a single moment in time.
So when I was asked what kind of custom word album that wanted to create with, I new immediately that I wanted the word "SNAPSHOT." To show off those simple snaps of time that I have collected, also allowing me to have space to journal next to each picture I had taken.
Here is what I did… using LOTS of alcohol ink, crackle paste, and gesso to alter all the pages.
The butterflies that you see are rub-ons on top of an extruded sheet of acrylic and then cut out, I then bent their wings up and added lots of Viva Pearl Pen dots, so those butterflies could take flight. 🙂
I intentionally wanted to leave negative space to the left of each picture and place that I altered, so that at some point I can handwrite in my thoughts on those pages, sort of as an art journal/album. I also thought it was a neat effect to open the pages and see the white space growing to the left, as my pictures "blossomed" from the right.
So here are the inside pages… there are a lot of 'em :)
And here are a couple of the opposite pages (they all look fairly similar.) I placed a journaling box on them so that I can later write a note to the person(s) pictured, just thought that would be a fun twist in addition to my art journaling about how I felt about that picture. 🙂
Oh the things you can do with some paints, gesso, stamps, ink, and CLEAR SCRAPS!!
Now, go on… go take some snapshots. Claim those moments in time!
