Heat embossing on acrylic

I like to heat emboss on my Clear Scraps acrylic.

It is possible on the really thin acrylic as well if you’re really, really careful but it works beautifully on the thicker, album-weight acrylic.

Butterfly quote layout

This butterfly is one page from the Acrylic Butterfly album from Clear Scraps.

I coloured the back of the whole shape with Cranberry Alcohol ink and Pearl Mixative.  Then, I stamped on the front with a swirl stamp (Autumn Leaves) in Versamark Ink.  I sprinkled the whole stamped area with silver embossing powder (Stampendous) and heated it gently with my heat gun.  There is a little bit of warping but for the most part it’s flat.  (My tip for warping acrylic is to re-heat and then throw a piece of wax paper and the phone book down on it while it cools.)  This would have made a great album cover but I decided to use it on a piece of wall art instead.

In addition to the heat embossing supplies, I also used: ruffled ribbon and jeweled broach from Pink Paislee,  misc. wide pink ribbon, paintable transparency from Prima, alphabet stickers from Making Memories, rub-ons from Heidi Swapp and paint pens from Marvy & Zig.

Thanks.

Love that Cranberry color you used- it looks wonderful on the acrylic. I love playing with heating but have melted some of the thinner myself.
