Mixed media and acrylic!

Hey there bloggers! Rita Barakat here with a mixed media journal
from Clear Scraps! I really had fun creating textures for this peice-
it's still not finished but I had to show you some fun different techniques I used.
Here is a close up of the cover, lots of paint,
gesso, crackle medium and stamping! You can use all of these products
directly on the acrylic if you use a layer of gesso first.
I however used a sheet of adhesive backed fabric (DCWV), which was so fun!
I put it right on top of the acrylic, I wasn't really paying attention
but I was pleasantly surprised when the back looked just as cool as the front…
This is the back! You can see where some of the paints bleed
through- you can't see the adhesive. The only thing I added a little black stamping
on the corners with Staz On ink.
A canvas tag added in. And to the right here is one of the
new Mascils from Clear Scraps. Here is a close up…
This is the  Quarterfoil Mascil (stencil) from Clear Scraps,
I used modeling paste mixed with a little paint.
Here is the back of the tag and the next acrylic page
where I used the Shattered glass mascils from Clear Scraps!
For this page I used Gel Medium and a little paint directly on the acrylic,
I love that some of areas are still clear- it looks like glass!
Another look…
Here I added a canvas page.
This was a fun technique,(on the right) I used
a brayer to spread gesso and a little paint across the surface,
because it's acrylic it came out just as cool on the back too.
Close up…
The back of the book. I will add to this book,
probably drawings and text; it was sure fun making it!
Have you tried Mixed media yet?
