Hi! Raechelle here, I am excited to be sharing my first project as a part of the Clear Scraps design team. :)
I created this banner using the wonderful Clear Scraps Home Sweet Home Chip Banner and the Simple Stories Homespun collection.
Here are better photos of the hearts, stars and house:
I am all about stretching my paper and adding details so, I will share a few ways that I do this. For the hearts, I wanted them each to be unique, yet have a little bit of cohesiveness. I began by cuting some word cards down for two of the heart. I added some white punched cardstock edging, then machine stitched along the edge. I also wanted to cover the arrow on the yellow portion in the middle, so I fussy cut a flower out of the pp and pop-dotted it to the middle (see above photo of finished product).
Next. I cut a strip of pp wide enough to accomodate the edges of the hearts. I then traced each heart, cut out, then adhered. (You'll notice some writing and numbers; this is something I do just to help me know which piece belongs to what. I have found this has been beneficial especially if I have to walk away from my project.)
I also used the numbering technique with the stars. I spent some time trying to find a pattern that appealed to me, so by numbering each piece, I didn't have to try to work that out again. Scraps were perfect for each of the points.
When I adhere the decorative details with an overhang to the pieces, I do not trim the excess off until I adhere it and am certain I will like it.
Thanks for visiting today. 🙂 I hope you have been inspired to create a banner of your own using one of the many styles Clear Scraps has to offer. You can see them by clicking here.
