Bright Birthday Card with Chipboard

Howdy,

Tami here to share a birthday card for you; one that would be suitable for a guy or a gal.

Summer makes me think of bright, bold colors; the cheery colors of the rainbow. So when I needed a card for a friend's birthday, those were the colors that inspired me.

I used 2 Chipboard pieces from Clear Scraps: Birthday Cake Chipboard Embellishment and Birthday Chipboard Word Title to create my card…

I used glitter gel pens in green, blue and purple to fill in the designs on both chipboard pieces. Touches of orange were used for the flames and the "i" in birthday. I also outlined the "birthday" chipboard piece and the black cardstock with silver.

I backed the Birthday Cake Chipboard in white cardstock and cut around the shape to create the "cake" portion of the design. Then a piece of black cardstock was used to help the design stand out from the white card base. Orange sticker letters were used for the "happy" at the top of the card.

Clear Scraps has lots and lots of chipboard shapes and words to help customize your projects.

For an extra boost of brightness, you can paint your chipboard pieces white before applying your color – whether it's ink, paint or pen. My gel pens were bright enough on the raw chipboard, so I didn't prime them.
