Hello there everyone! Laura is here with you today with a pretty project with a spring or summer vibe in vibrant shades of blue!
Have you explored the different shapes and types of Memory-Dex cards in the Clear Scraps Store? There are so many fun things to choose from! These are created using the cool Rounded Acrylic Dividers set. They are available in the chipboard option too–but don't be afraid of the acrylic versions of the Memory-Dex Cards!
To create these cards, I used several shades of blue/aqua alcohol ink. The ink was brushed or dabbed on to the acrylic using a felt pad. You can dab on more for a bubbled look, or just do a little for a softer look. You can stamp on them using a Staz-On type of ink or draw/outline using a sharpie. Here I kept it simple, because I wanted a soft look with the butterflies.
One of the "tricks" of using the acrylic cards, if you want to use embellishments or paper, is to mirror what you do on both sides. That way there is no "peek through". The sides don't have to be identical. Just the base papers and then make sure the embellishments are small enough to be hidden.
Just like on this acrylic Memory-Dex card. I used the paper strip on both sides, then cut out identical size (2×2 inch and 2&1/4×2&1/4 inch) patterned paper and cardstock mat, so that these pieces were then the perfect size to add the butterfly onto. Then one of these squares was added to each side of the card, mirroring each other.
These cards are really fun to play with, experimenting with different mediums, stamps, and the mirroring technique. They make a great addition to your Memory-Dex box! Give them a try, you can find all the different types HERE.
Thanks for stopping by today!
