Clear Scraps Project Post

Hello and Happy Friday! Misty @Mommyofkidz here with you today sharing my newest Clear Scraps Project! Before I share that, though, I have a question for you. As summer dwindles to an end and the warm weather begins to cool, are you happy with the memories that you made over the summer? Did you take a trip with your family to an exotic destination? Or did you simply lay out by the pool in your own backyard? However you chose to spend your summer days, I hope you took lots of photos! I also hope that you will PRINT your pictures rather than leaving them in your phone or camera! Life is all about making memories…and the photos are proof that we have a good one worth sharing!
That brings me to my project…A Large Travel Journal that I have transformed to look like a camera. The outer cover was designed to look like a camera body, while the inside holds page upon page of secret pockets, hidden pull outs, and fun folds and flippies…all designed to hold my summer photos.

Can you believe that I started with the things in the photos below??!! I have said it before and I am going to say it again…

I used the Wooden Mason Jar Lids to layer and create the shaker lens. This was probably the easiest part of the whole album! I simply covered the bottom circle (yes the hole is covered) with silver glitter paper. I glued all the rings together and covered the outside with patterned paper. You can paint this as well, but I wanted to use this paper line so much!!
Anyway, I added shaker filler and glued on a layer of thick acetate that I had in my stash. This is NOT sold as a shaker, so it will not come with the acetate from the Clear Scraps Store.

Once I had the lens finished, I started making the inserts. I use the Regular Tabbed Chipboard Dividers to serve as the buttons at the top of the camera. I simply covered the dividers with patterned paper and created pockets on the inside cover for them to rest in.

Once I created the lens and the inserts, I began working on the pages. I created 3 signatures, each with a special feature or two. My favorite feature is the hidden photo spot on the back of one of the signatures. I used ribbon to keep it closed, but once you untie it…check out all the places to add photos and journaling! I love this so much!

I am so excited with how this album turned out! When I began, it was merely a thought. By the time I was finished, I had 3 signatures, 8 pullouts, 4 pouches, and a hidden photo flipper! Not to mention the cover/camera body and shaker lens! I love it so much!
