Fall Wreath

I'm really excited for my first blog post here on the Clear Scraps blog. I hope you'll enjoy the project I have for you, and the technique I've done using the clear expressions.

Wreath Detail

I actually heat embossed the saying; "blessings." I wanted something bold to put in the middle, but didn't want the typical banner, and when I saw the clear blessings, it was perfect! I used a very fine embossing powder from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

I cut up one of those really long table decor pieces, and glued them onto the styrofoam. I even die cut some leaves and sprayed them with colors that matched the other leaves and the embossing powder.

A few tips and tricks… I used fishing line to hang the word in the center of the wreath. Even when you look really close, you can't tell the fishing line is there. I placed some of the leaves over top of the fishing line to help desguise it. When heat embossing clear acrylic, you want to take your time. The acrylic will curl and even roll onto itself if it becomes too hot. I like to heat up my heat gun for a minute, and apply heat for a few seconds, then I remove the heat allowing the acrylic to cool and reapply heat where necessary. The results are amazing if you just take your time! If you do heat up the acrylic, and follow the steps exactly as I have said above, but the acrylic still rolls onto itself, use some tweezers, pencils, paintburshes, anything long that you can manipulate the acrylic back to it's original shape and then flatten it out with an acrylic stamp block. Works like a charm!

I hope you've enjoyed my tips and tricks for today!

You can also flatten by placing the acrylic between two pieces of material (I used a pillowcase) and iron using a medium setting. Remove the iron and put a book on it. The piece will flatten perfectly.
