Hello fellow Clear Scraps fans! Let me introduce myself–I'm Karla, better known simply as 'Kay'. It's such an honor to present my debut project for Clear Scraps as one of the newest DT members.
For my first project I decided to go with a layout featuring a Clear Scraps 12×12 acrylic sheet as the base for my page. This would be me & my grandmother back in 1980. My grandmother was a very important part of my life & I remember her fondly (she passed away in 2006). I've been looking for just the right way to pay a bit of tribute to her and this would be it!

I used several techniques in altering my acrylic page. To create the border around my layout, I used a large home-made mask. I then took several alcohol inks and dabbed all along the edges of my mask. This created the shaped border. I wanted to make my alcohol inked border stand out more–so I further highlighted my border with dots of Liquid Pearls.
I then used a second mask to create the design going down the center. For this I used an olive green acrylic paint and dabbed all along my mask. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled a bit of glitter & chunky leaf glitter to give my design more texture. Here you can see a close up of both the acrylic paint design & a bit of the alcohol inked border.

The rest of my page is composed of a variety of flowers, special fabrics/fibers, corrugated cardboard, jute, tulle & several other bits & bobs. Here are a couple more closeups.
All of these elements really stand out beautifully against a transparent background. That's the beauty of acrylic! You can find more details & close ups on my blog. Have a great weekend!
