Stenciled Mason Jars

Raechelle here today. Mason jars are all the rage now and they sell for a pretty penny. Why pay when you can make your own? They are so simple and require just a little bit of time and work. To give your jar some extra pizzaz, try using one of the many fabulous stencils that Clear Scraps has to offer.

To create my jars, I added a few coats of paint to each jar, allowing ample time to dry before each coat. I then used the 12" Damask stencil to create my design.

To do so, place the stencil over the area that you wish to use. Dab the open area of the stencil lightly with paint, being careful to hold it down firmly as to not allow the paint to bleed. Remove and allow to dry then repeat, being careful to align the previosuly painted areas. (For these jars I used two of the damask patterns at a time. I painted, removed, allowed to dy and then repeated the process. Once these two areas were completely dry I repeated again to finish the jar, using a total of 4 damask prints around it.)

Allow the jars to dry well. (I let them sit overnight)

Now comes the fun part; distress with some sand paper and add some flowers, twine, lace, etc. to finish them off.

These make such a wonderful gift! The possibilities for making your own unique Mason jars are enless with the wide variety of  Clear Scraps stencils available.
