Back-to-School Cards They’ll Love!

Back-to-school season is here, and it’s the perfect time to create handmade cards to celebrate a new year of learning! Today I’m sharing a pair of fun and colorful A2-sized cards featuring Clear Scraps chipboard embellishments and an interactive shaker element. Whether you’re surprising a student, encouraging a teacher, or tucking a handmade note into a backpack, these cards are easy to customize and are sure to brighten someone’s first day back.

For my first card, I started by layering a piece of colorful patterned paper onto blue cardstock before adhering it to my A2 card base. The focal point is the Clear Scraps Apple Shaker, which makes the perfect back-to-school embellishment! I painted the front chipboard layer red and added patterned paper to the inside back piece before assembling the shaker. After adhering the shaker layers together, I filled the apple with red shaker mix, added the clear acrylic piece, and finished it with the painted top layer.

Pro Tip: Don’t forget to peel the protective film from both sides of the clear acrylic before assembling your shaker. It makes a huge difference in the finished project!

To complete the design, I painted the number 2 from the Clear Scraps Embellishments Chipboard Punchout – NUMBERS with navy paint and adhered it to the center of the apple. I finished the sentiment by adding alphabet stickers to create a fun “Back 2 School” title.

My second card came together in no time! I layered patterned paper onto a piece of red cardstock and adhered it to an A2 card base. For the embellishment, I colored one of the chipboard stars from the Clear Scraps Multi Stars Chipboard Embellishments and added Gold Stickles for lots of sparkle and shine. I love how a simple chipboard shape can become such a bold focal point with just a little paint and glitter. Layered over the speech bubble die cuts, the star adds just the right amount of dimension and finishes the card perfectly.
