Take Note ~ DIY Wood Box and Memory Dex Cards

Hi everyone, 🙂 Welcome back to the Clear Scraps Blog …. Lynn here today.

In today’s project for Clear Scraps, I am going to be working with the DIY Wood Box and two sets of the Memory-Dex cards in chipboard and acrylic.

I am so excited to create a project with the DIY Wood Box ~ so many crafty possibilities. The size of this wood box is 4.75” x 6” which is a great size for storage and the memory – dex cards create a great filing system. I thought I would decorate the box and use it to store my customer Thank you cards and envelopes.

The assembly of the box is super simple … This is an excellent project for a beginner crafter. Before I attach all the pieces together, I am going to cover each piece inside and out with some decorative scrapbook papers. I love the raw wood colour of the box as it will match perfectly with the Vintage Grunge style papers I have chosen.

Once I have finished covering all the pieces, I used a find grade sandpaper to distress the edges and finished everything with distress ink for a Vintage old world feel.

I then used a strong grade glue and attached all the pieces together… The wooden box came together really easily and is a great size and very sturdy construction.

I embellished the box with layers of die cut ephemera and a pretty paper doll and added a sentiment to finish.

Now on to the Memory- Dex cards

Each set of Memory – Dex cards contain 3 pieces. I am using a set of each of the chipboard Scallop Cards and the acrylic Rounded Tag Dividers in today’s project.

To keep with the theme of the box I am going to cover both sides of the chipboard cards with scrapbook papers in a vintage Grunge pattern.

I decorated the cards with layers of die cut ephemera pieces and paper dolls for a Vintage style.

I love how these have turned out and they match the box perfectly.

Next are the acrylic Rounded Tag Dividers.

I really wanted to feature the acrylic of these cards. The acrylic makes a lovely contrast to the wooden elements, so I decided not to cover the acrylic cards over.

Instead, I die cut a bunch of floral stems and featured these as the embellishments adding a sentiment and some pink satin ribbon to finish.

I am so pleased with the end result of this project and now I have a home for all my Thank You cards and envelopes.
