Red, White & Ready to Scrap! Patriotic Embellishment Trio with Clear Scraps

Hi everyone! It’s Katie here today sharing a fun patriotic project that is perfect for adding custom embellishments to your Fourth of July scrapbook layouts, cards, and other paper crafting projects!

For this project, I created a coordinating embellishment trio using the Clear Scraps Shaker Star Tag, Mini American Flag Shaker, and Rocket Chipboard Embellishment.

I started with the Star Shaker Tag by covering the tag base with patterned paper and adding coordinating border strips along the bottom. Once the paper was adhered, I trimmed away the excess and began building the shaker. The top layer of the star was painted red and added after filling the shaker with sequins and securing the final acrylic layer in place.

To embellish the tag, I added a “Happy Fourth” ephemera banner across the star and finished the bottom with a large July title. The title hangs off the right side of the tag quite a bit, but since I plan on incorporating this into a scrapbook layout, that didn’t bother me at all. In fact, I can easily balance the design by extending a photo collage from the edge of the tag over toward the right side of the page. To finish it off, I added a small firecracker ephemera piece with dimensional adhesive, along with ribbon and twine at the top of the tag.

Next up was the Rocket Chipboard Embellishment. After removing the pieces from the chipboard frame, I painted the lower portion of the rocket the same red used on the star tag and painted the top section navy blue. Once the paint dried, I used the 6″ Stars Stencil along with matte opaque texture paste to add stars to the top of the rocket. I absolutely love the texture and detail this added!

To finish the rocket, I adhered a “Red, White and BOOM!” ephemera banner diagonally across the center. For the spark at the base of the rocket, I painted it white and then covered it with white glitter to add a little extra sparkle and shine.

Finally, I created the Mini American Flag Shaker. I covered the base with the same patterned paper used on the tag to keep everything coordinated. Next, I assembled the shaker layers and painted the top frame white. Once the paint dried, I coated it with white glitter for a festive shimmer.

For the shaker fillings, I added red sprinkles to each of the stripe sections and blue gemstones to the stars section. After securing the acrylic layer and frame, I finished the flag with a “Stars & Stripes” banner layered over an ephemera piece and topped with a blue star embellishment.

These embellishments were so much fun to create, and I love that they coordinate perfectly while each offering different textures and dimensions. Best of all, they’ll be ready and waiting when it’s time to document this year’s Fourth of July celebrations!
