Hello crafty friends! Jennifer here on the blog today, sharing this mixable tab album. These acrylic and chipboard albums are so fun to work with, and there are endless creative possibilities—especially with the acrylic pieces.
One of my favorite techniques with acrylic is using alcohol inks. The colors are so bright and vibrant, and the way the ink reacts creates a beautiful, swirly, almost fantasy-like effect. To start, I grabbed the three acrylic pieces and peeled the protective film off one side. Then I used alcohol inks to create different designs, mixing colors and letting them blend naturally. Once I was happy with the look, I set them aside to dry.
Next, I worked on the top hat shaker. I used some of the same alcohol inks on the top chipboard piece to keep everything cohesive. I traced the shape onto patterned paper, cut it out, and glued it to the bottom of the shaker. Then I added some fun elements—metal gears, clock hands, and a bit of glitter—for that steampunk feel. Once the shaker was assembled and dry, I added a few more gears to the outside for extra dimension.
For the front cover, I attached the top hat along with some die cuts from the paper collection I used.
To assemble the album, I alternated and rotated the chipboard and acrylic pieces to create visual interest. Throughout the album, I included pockets for tags, journaling spots, and photo mats. I had an extra crown left over, so I embellished it with the same glitter used inside the shaker to tie everything together.
Finally, I used book rings to bind all the pieces into a completed album. This turned into such a fun steampunk-inspired mini album!
