Clear Scraps Project Post

Hi there friends!
Misty @Mommyof kidz here with you today sharing my newest project. For this one, I used the XL Wood Flip Flop Shape from Clear Scraps and I am soooo in love! Before I go into the project, however, I want to ask you a question.
Have you ever been on a cruise? If the answer is YES…then did you decorate your cabin door? I ALWAYS decorate my cabin door simply because it is fun to get all the OOOOHHHHs and AAAAHHHHHs when people pass by it. But mostly, it makes it super easy to tell my cabin from all the others that look exactly the same! Here is what people were getting to see this time around….

Now, when they say XL Wooden flip flops.…they MEAN it! When these things arrived at my house, before I ever decorated them, I was in AWE! They are 20 inches tall and over 16 inches wide! y’all, these things are MAGNIFICENT!!
I had ordered them knowing exactly what I was going to do with them, and I could not wait to get tarted!!! I pulled out my handy dandy paints and supplies and set to work!

I painted the whole surface with a mivture of blues first. I wanted to create a look of the ocean, so I just slished the paint on and swiped until I was happy with the look. Once that dried, I added the sand color all around the edges, and kind of blended it in a bit. I have a close up for you to see…I was NOT AT ALL a perfectionist for this! Nothing about the beach says “CLEAN” to me, so I was not either! LOL
In the photo below, you can see where I tried to create a bit of texture and even added a bit of “sand” that I had in my stash. YES it was clean and I did purchase it, but I am sure you could go grab a handful in your yard…no body is going to know! LOL!

Once all of my paint dried, it was time to glue the sandal straps down. Of course I used a heavy glue for this part, because you just don know how BIG these flip flops are until you are holding them in your hands!! I did NOT want this falling apart on me! look at my hand holding the flip flops! And I have a BIG man’s hand y’alL! Not even kidding!! LOL This XL piece is FANTABULOUS! I knew it was goin g to make a statement on my cabin door!

However, I was not finished. I could not just paint and be done! NOPE! Y’all know I gotta be EXTRA! So I grabbed all the things that I thought I might want to add to the flip flops and got to work! I had an assortment of tropical flowers, skinny rope, tropical greenery, a decorative fishing net, AND I had some leftover REAL starfish shells that I had used on my wedding decorations from 2021…so of course I used those!!

Once I was finished rearranging, trimming, and gluing it all down, I was so “FLIPPIN” happy! I love how this project came together for me!! When I showed my husband, he actually smiled and approved…and said that it was probably my “CUTEST” cabin decoration yet! LOL..I wil take that compliment!!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my XL Wooden Flip Flops transform! It was such a fun and rewarding project!!! I think EVERYONE needs to do one of these XL wooden pieces for decoration. Not even joking! You will LOVE IT!
